Hotel Bed and Breakfast - Las Orquideas - Monteverde - Costa Rica

   The Hotel Las Orquideas is one of Monteverde's newer hotels. Located a short walk from the town of Santa Elena, this small Monteverde Hotel offers 9 rooms, most with one double size bed, some with a double and a single. All rooms have nice tiled private baths with hot water. The rooms are well finished with lots of wood and good size windows.

   Orquideas is owned and operated by a local family. They are outgoing and helpful whether you need travel information or an early morning coffee before your cloud forest hike. There is a computer in the reception you can use to check email or burn photographs from your digital camera. A home cooked typical breakfast is available for guests. Along with this nice family atmosphere are laundry service, television room, and dinning room for eating, playing cards or enjoying the view of the Nicoya Gulf.

   There are no phones in the rooms but calls may be made from the reception. At this time there are no refrigerators in the rooms but you can keep things cold using the fridge in the kitchen.

   From the ridge the hotel sits upon, there is a steeply winding trail, leading to a lovely waterfall.

   The hotel overlooks the Monteverde cloud forest; secondary forests of the Finca Ecologica and the Pacific Low Lands and Gulf of Nicoya.
   

   This is a comfortable mid range place to stay in Monteverde, Costa Rica.
