Hotel Monteverde Lodge Monteverde Costa Rica ....... Well-established and favored by many guide books the Monteverde Lodge is located about 10 minute walk from Santa Elena in a peaceful corner with fantastic views. The hotel is laid out on 15 acres with trails and beautiful gardens. A popular feature is there indoor pool size hot tub solar heated.

The gardens at the Monteverde Lodge are one of its most beautiful features and there are benches and seats to observe the wildlife, read or just rest.  The gardens have hundreds of native flowers, ferns, bromeliads and other plants chosen to replicate the natural cloud forest and attract local wildlife. A stream, pond and small waterfall provide a habitat for water based flora and fauna. A popular well-marked trail is from the Monteverde Lodge to the famous Ecological Sanctuary, though primary and secondary forest.

Rooms

Monteverde Lodge has 24 standard rooms and 3 garden rooms, designed for close contact with the forest and gardens while protecting you from the weather.

Standard Rooms

Standard rooms are spacious with vaulted ceilings and 2 queen size beds, a desk, closet, safe, coffee maker and private bathroom with bathtub and shower with solar heated hot water.  The rooms all have a triangular window feature where a table and chairs are placed to look directly out to the forest.

Garden Rooms

The Garden Rooms are smaller than the standard rooms and have only one queen sized bed and no bath tub (but they do have nice solar heated showers) plus a desk, closet, safe and coffee maker. The nicest feature of the rooms are their doors which lead directly to the gardens. The rooms have a shared porch (which means they are not quite as private as the standard rooms). The garden rooms are located directly below the bar and restaurant.

One of the hotel's features is an enormous 14-person hot tub near the hotel lobby which is in inside a glass atrium and solar-heated when possible.

Valentin Corral is the chef at Monteverde Lodge’s respected restaurant who provides delicious local and international dishes. The dining room has cloud forest murals and tropical plants and provides the perfect setting for dining in Monteverde.

Finally a note about Monteverde Lodge's ecological policies....

Monteverde Lodge was a pioneer hotel in the Monteverde zone for garbage separation for recycling. The Lodge also installed, with the help of the U.S. Department of Energy, a solar energy system that saves an average of 50% on overall electrical energy consumption. In addition the Lodge uses high efficiency lighting and water-saving fixtures have been installed to reduce the consumption of resources.
