The Sunset Hotel, with its hilltop location, was built in a way to give each of the 7 cabins a western view of the Gulf of Nicoya. The sunsets are spectacular as the name of the hotel suggest! You can enjoy this view from your room and porch or from the circular restaurant's picture windows.
The hotel has its own short trails in the forest where you can go birdwatching or simply enjoy the flowers and abundant vegetation.The Hotel Sunset is one of the best choices in the area for economy-minded tourists!
The rooms at Hotel Sunset are simply appointed with tile floors, wooden furniture, queen size beds and a private bathroom with hot showers. Each room also has two deck chairs and a small table located on the common porch. There are two larger rooms which have private porches that have a view of gardens.
Breakfast is included in the hotel price and with enough notice the owners will also prepare lunch and dinner.
Hotel Sunset offers simple accommodations for those travelers who want to be outside the busier town area of Santa Elena. The hotel's hilltop location makes for peaceful nights and great views, but travelers should consider having a rental car or taking taxis, as the road is steep. There is a shortcut to town and the walk is about 15 minutes. Many consider the peaceful location, the friendly owners (who speak English, German and Spanish) and the very reasonable prices well-worth the walk!
