Hotel El Viandante Monteverde Costa Rica….  One of the newer economy hotel in Monteverde, the hotel El Viandante (which means 'traveler' in Italian) was established in 2005 and updated again in 2009 and offers spacious and spottessly clean rooms in a freindly atompshere. The hotel is located just a few minute's walk to Santa Elena town and a 10 minute drive to the Monteverde Cloud Forests. The front desk is extremely helpful and communication will not be a problem as, between them, the owners speak English, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin!

The hotel offers free internet and has Wi Fi. There is also game boards for guests which they are welcome to play in the bright, large breakfast room with its many windows.

Hotel El Viandante has 12 rooms of which 8 can accommodate up to 4 people and there are 4 single rooms

BIKE RENTAL

El Viandante is the only hotel in Monteverde that offers bike rental. Although renting a bike in MOnteverde is often not the safest activity - bad drivers and bad roads. Plus bikes cannot enter the reserves or parks.Saying that there are plenty of adventurous cyclists out there who appreciate the service and a good opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside. But previous mountain bike riding experience on challenging terrain is a must. Prices are $10 for 3 hours or $15 for 1 day. Bike helmets available for rent for $2.

There are also guided bike tours available with advance notice: $30 for 3 hours (guide speaks Spanish, English and Italian).
