This relatively new hotel is well run place that is managed by a Tico family. It is located in downtown San Jose's Barrio Amon, one of the nicer neighborhoods in the city. The hotel is within walking distance to museums, the central market, and Avenida Central, San Jose's shopping district. Barrio Amon itself is home to a few good restaurants, as well as the Jade Museum and the National Zoo.
The most notable feature of Hotel Inca Real is the indoor courtyard, which is surrounded by light, airy, and admittedly simple rooms each with private bath and hot water. Towels folded into the shapes of swans sit on the beds as a welcome to each room.
Each of the standard rooms is able to accommodate up to four people, either with a double bed and two singles or two double beds. Most of the rooms are strategically situated to avoid the loud city street noise that tends to fill the air.
In the lobby you will find large couches, free Internet access and board games, providing a comfortable atmosphere for lounging.
