Orquideas Inn, near Alajuela, San Jose is just 10-15 minutes from the main San Jose International Airport (Juan Santamaria, SJO). It is built on a former coffee and banana farm that encompasses ten and a half acres. The Hotel Orquideas Inn is a small boutique hotel of 27 rooms and offers hiking trails, gardens, pool and breathtaking views.
The Orquideas Inn features 19 spacious rooms, 6 unique suites and a 2 bedroom Geodesic Dome for families and groups. Rooms are beautifully decorated reflecting the soothing pastels and vibrant hues of the tropics. Many of the rooms and suites have fantastic views of the mountains, volcanoes and surrounding countryside, all rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fans, satelite television, phones, hair dryers, coffee makers and safes.

Pools, Lands & Gardens
After passing though reception, a bright and colorful stucco building leads you to a courtyard swimming pool and hot tub with a sweeping view of the nearby Volcan Irazu. The colorful poolside bar has been decorated exclusively with memorabilia of Marilyn Monroe; her posters, records, photos, and other collectibles adorn nearly every surface of the room. The bar feels tropical and the open walls allow a cooling breeze to blow off the pool.
Restaurant & Bar
Upstairs from the bar is the large restaurant, which has been reported to have excellent food. This brightly colored space has open windows looking out over the pool to the view of the mountains beyond.
ACCOMMODATION
A great deal of thought has also been put into each room. The decorations, furniture and lighting have been chosen to give each room a character of its own. The hotel hired an artist to decorate some of the rooms and all have funky headboards designed to look like grass blowing in the breeze. These rooms also have mirrors made from recycled window frames. These hundred-year-old window panels have beautiful weathered paint, remnants of decades old Costa Rican houses.
Deluxe Rooms
There are seven spacious rooms with two double beds which are decorated in soothing pastels with bamboo furniture. Large bath with double sinks and a ceramic tile shower. All rooms feature window walls on two sides and sliding door wall opening to a deck or balcony with great Mountain and Volcano views.
There is one superior room similar to the the deluxe room but larger with king size bed and sitting area.
Standard Rooms
There are 12 standard rooms which are located near the pool and main building, The rooms are surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and can comfortably sleep up to 4 people. Rooma are decorated in a Spanish hacienda style with vibrant colors and feature rustic handcrafted Costa Rican wood furniture including small table and chairs and colorful Guatemalan bedspreads.
The Mountain View Suite has couches and tables in the living room area, walk in closets and a stone balcony with a beautiful view of nearby Volcano Irazu. This suite also has a heart shaped Jacuzzi with a large picture window. The king sized bed and air conditioning ensure a comfortable stay.If you are staying for an extended time period, the Bougainvillea Apartment has a kitchenette, living room with two couches and satellite television. This apartment has one king bed and private bathroom with hot water.
The Geodesic Dome is a design of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Designed in the 1950's as a futuristic idea for modern living, this unique style of home design has rarely been put into practice. The Hotel Las Orquideas invited a company from the United States to come build one here on the property. Besides being the most unique room at the hotel, the Geodesic Dome is also one of the most beautiful. This two-bedroom suite has a big living room, octagon shaped skylights and a tiled sunken bathtub in the bathroom. It also has satellite television and hair dryer.
The two Pool Suites at the waters edge have a living room with overstuffed couches and satellite television. The bedroom has two big queen beds and the bathroom has a large bathtub. These suites are some of the hotels most beautiful.
