Please contact us for shuttle transport routes from the Juan Santamaria International San Jose Airport (SJO) to other parts of Costa Rica. On the datebase it does not indicate there is a route from the main international San Jose airport to other places, because shuttles are not allowed to stop at the airport (private transport only permitted). Transportation in Costa Rica

Public Buses

Throughout Costa Rica there is an extensive public bus system. The problem is that most of the routes are privately rather than individually owned, so getting hold of a schedule is often difficult and finding updated ones is often a time consuming and frustrating job. The buses are often hot, late, cancelled, crowded and extremely slow. But they are very cheap - there is no doubt about that and if you are a traveler with a lot of time on your hands this is the way to go!

Shuttles

Shuttles (or collective transports as they are sometimes called) are a great alternative to rental cars, public buses or private transfers. We can arrange shuttle services to many destinations in Costa Rica, which run once or twice daily and are door-to-door to many destinations.  The shuttles are comfortable, modern micro-buses with a/c and seat belts. The drivers are equipped with cell phones and are fully insured. The shuttles usually take up to 8 people.

Private Transfers

For a more convenient and faster journey we can arrange completely private, door to door transport to most destinations. Our drivers use comfortable microbuses or 4 x 4 vehicles which have A/C and seat belts. Vehicles are fully insured and carry cell phones. The prices are usually based on 1-5 people, with operating hours between 6.00am-6.00pm. Outside of these hours there is a small extra charge.

Taxi-Boat-Taxi

This is a special service from Monteverde to Arenal (or vice versa). The journey is approximately 3 hours, door-to-door from most of the hotels in the zone.  Click here for more details
